How Can we have choice if God is omniscient
07.13.05 (1:22 pm) [edit]

If God knows everything we will do in our entire lifetime without ever necissarily controlling it then how are our actions even remotely our own? If for example there are four doors and God knows beforehand which door we will take then all of the other doors may as well have never been there. If God is truly omniscient then it stands to reason that Choice is merely an illusion.

I would have to disagree, that's like saying that since you know if you were to get pregnant you would keep the baby, that the choices of abortion and adoption were never opened to you. Just because you know what your chioce would be, or what the choice of someone else would be, doesn't mean that the other options were never there.

No because humans can be fooled ,I mean if God knew. dont you think that knowledge of one choice negates the others.
and thank you for taking the time to comment

That's the paradox - we can have free will or an omnipotent god. Not both.

Yes but can we have free will if the god is only Omniscient?

non sequiter. knowledge of events does not dictate them.
freewill is an illusion but not bc of Gods knowledge.
ps - purpose driven life isnt really a philosphy book. its pop-psychology with christian words that fails to have any seriously redeeming qualities.

I think the idea of an all-knowing (past, present, but most importantly future) is an idea that can destroy the Christian belief in its final analysis
